So ‘quietly’ has pushed its way through the ranks to be the word that I now most assume indicates that the text you sent me was never written or read by an actual human, and hence likely to be worth little.
Even more so than the ‘not only X, but Y’ construct.
Although I suppose there will be a point - perhaps it happened long ago - where humans will, consciously or otherwise, start picking up the writing style of AI. Even the few remaining humans who write their own stuff without any kind of AI assistance.
Language changes over time, with technology being one of many influences. Long before generative AI was popular, a certain subset of human language was after all already being very shaped by online algorithms.
(AI of course picked up its writing style from humans. To the extent that an inanimate object can be said to ‘pick up’, ‘write’ or have ‘a style’ of course.)
