Geeqie is a handy little open-source app for Linux systems that helps you view, sort and organise all your images. I’m sure it has far more capabilities than I will ever need, but as a way to flick through hundreds of photos, mark ones to keep vs delete and then do exactly that it works a treat.
I especially like the way you can split the screen into 2 or 4 so as to compare several images against each other. Here’s a screenshot from the official project page.
Beyond that it supports bookmarks, tags, collections, what have you, as well as full access to your Exif, IPTC and XMP metadata.
I believe it also has a duplicate image dector but I haven’t tried that.
