A short visual history of US interference with Iran

· Braindump

Ted Rall’s cartoon summarises just a few reasons why some of the Iranian population might on occasion express some negative sentiment towards America. And all this is of course long before the current war, which of course was not in any way instigated by Iran.

But hey, as illustrated here, it’s not the like the US didn’t already have a history of violent interference against the country.

This is of course not to suggest Iran has had no agency in the relationship throughout history, or that their current political regime was anything other than truly hideous to its own citizens. But, as always, two things can be true at once.

Auto-generated description: A political cartoon depicts the United States' historical involvement in Iran and Iraq, highlighting events such as the 1953 coup, funding of SAVAK, and the Iran-Iraq War, culminating in military actions in the 1990s.
